EL-WIRE Inverter TESTS

EL-WIRE Inverter TESTS

(Electroluminescent wire) 3V to ~180VAC depending on the load.

Was thinking of using as a Squirrel zapper to try and keep them out of the bird feeders. PICAXE would make an excellent controller.

Using a Regulated PSU at 3 Volts I got the following results.

Scope 10X Probe LOAD =
Frequency: ~15kHz
Current: 36 mA
Ouput: 500V P-P

NE-30 NEON LOAD =
Frequency: ~1kHz
Current: 205 mA
Output: 295V P-P

Use at a low duty cycle, as the transformer gets a bit toasty. I think at 5V the transistors might let out some magic smoke.

Receiver Noise Bridge used to adjust any antenna. Works from 1 to 100 MHz. Can measure resonant frequency, feedpoint resistance and reactance. Not very accurate unless calibrated.

This is a test load with a NE-30 neon lamp rated for 125V. Lights at 60VAC with an internal resistor of 7K5.
